John, I knew your dad briefly when I was a teenager in Houston back in the late fifties. I played in a rehearsal band for young players that he set up and tutored. In fact, I wrote my first big band chart for that group. It was awful, but your dad incouraged me to keep on writing. Shortly after that I attended North Texas and wrote for the lab band there. It gave me the foundation for a very enjoyable and successful career that took me to LA studios and beyond. I never forgot your father's encouragement.
I just happened to find this website and wanted to pass that on to you. Good luck and continued success for you.
